THE GROOVE SARGE

Stephen Edgerton is a multi-instrumentalist currently residing in Fayetteville, NC by way of Durham. Playful yet introspective, his style reflects his love for improvised and instrumental music stemming from classic R&B, Smooth and Traditional Jazz, and gospel. Stephen has been seen recently as a sideman holding down the low end for the likes of Jasmin Ghent, Althea René, George Freeman, Mavis Swan Poole and Soul Understated, Al Strong and a host of other local and national artists. He also serves as sousaphonist for the always entertaining 99 Brass Band. Stephen Is a retired Army Bandsman having served 23 yrs in service to the nation. He has resided and performed all over to include six states and 12 countries including one deployment. Affectionately known as “The Groove Sarge” by many of his peers, he strives to share the universal language of music in all spaces and def keep the groove first!
